Dynamic Content

Tags: User Experience (UX), Website Design

Short Definition:

The term dynamic content refers to content generated or altered by a website design and delivered to a user or client. It is different from static content, which is unchanging and typically easier to create. Dynamic content is usually created using a software program and content management system such as WordPress.

What Is Dynamic Content?

A website’s dynamic content is what makes it more than just a collection of static pages. It’s the reason why users can search through your blog or check out your products without having to dig through layers of navigation to get to the content they’re interested in.

In the context of a website, dynamic content is generated by a program or script that produces a different version of itself depending on the user’s choices and the available data, such as the time of day or the user’s location.

Dynamic content adds flexibility to websites and can help web designers communicate important information to their users. For example, a website that sells clothing might use dynamic content to show different products depending on the user’s screen size or the weather where the user lives. Dynamic content is created by using scripts or programs to change a web page’s content based on various factors.

Dynamic Website Design

How Dynamic Content Works

It is a form of in-frame content that dynamically alters the content as it scrolls across the screen from point to point. In most cases, dynamic content is a text or template component that varies depending on in-flow events.

In other words, it is a change that takes place on the screen rather than a change that occurs within the application. For instance, when you click a link on a blog post, the post’s content is scrolled automatically to the right as it scrolls to the bottom of the page.

How Does Dynamic Content Benefit Businesses?

The reason why this can be useful is that it allows for more efficient use of space. Imagine a web-page layout consisting of three static images – a logo, a background image, and an article. Now imagine the same layout but this time, add a fourth image called “action” to go along with the three static images.

This action will trigger the user to navigate to a specific location on the page. With these four images, we now see a total of eight images that need to be displayed on the page. While it is true that the layout will still look the same, it will also take up a lot of horizontal space, especially since the links in the fourth image trigger the first two images, which are not in the middle of the page.

This is one reason why many website designers begin their design work by using dynamic content creation. They know that if they want to create dynamic content, they have to create a form for users to enter in their information, and then they have to put that information into the code. By doing this first, the designer can get most of their design points accomplished while lessening the wasted space inside the page.

Personalized User Experience

There are also times when a website designer will use a form of dynamic content creation to provide visitors with a personalized experience. One of the most common is the personalization option, which enables a customer to enter their name or identify data about themselves.

Another example is offering an eBook download that comes with the email that the visitor signed up with. This lets the individual know exactly what type of information they will be provided with as they begin the process of downloading. When the eBook is completely downloaded, the personalization code will automatically dismiss the form so that the individual can continue browsing.

Other Types Of Dynamic Content

Many other types of codes can be used to offer more personalization. For example, if you are converting an eBook from PDF to PDF, you can set the particular font used, the size of the text, and even how bold or italicized in the text.

All of these different variables can be changed during the conversion process to offer a better chance of successfully getting conversions from different users. By knowing how to make eBook customization a part of the process, companies can ensure that they are giving their customers the best opportunity to get eBook downloads.

Another way to personalize eBook downloads is to add in a barcode that contains the user’s name. Using dynamic content this way gives marketers a unique opportunity to put a name or URL relevant to their business into a short code, which will then be included in the eBook.

In this way, marketers can offer relevant offers right within the eBook without changing all HTML codes. This makes it easier for them to get conversions that will convert them into real, paying customers.
